Not all schools offer all sports. It is important that students are clear on their application if they want to play a sport, and then the NSISP does its best to match them with a school that offers the sport. Students must try out for school sports teams. They are not guaranteed a spot.

Community Sports/Activities

Outside of school, there are a lot more opportunities to get involved!

Some examples of community opportunities are:

Dance (ballet, jazz, hip hop, etc)
figure skating
horseback riding
indoor soccer
junior football
lacrosse
martial arts (karate, judo, taekwondo, etc.)
mountain biking
road racing
rock climbing
sailing
Scouts and Girl Guides
skiing
snowboarding
surfing
swimming
tennis

Program Organized Activities

With so many activities, it is hard to find time to do more. But students do.

The NSISP also has students participate in activities like apple picking, beach trips, dinner theatre, fishing, fossil hunting, Halloween and Christmas parties, ice skating, maple syrup making, movies, professional hockey and basketball games, school trips, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, surfing, wagon rides, whale watching, winter carnivals, and so much more.

Cultural Trips

There are also two cultural trips held by the NSISP each year.

One trip is to Toronto and Niagara Falls, held in October. The second trip is to Montreal and Ottawa, held in March.

These trips are not included in the NSISP fees, and students wishing to participate must pay for them and have a letter of permission from their parents.

Registration for the trips often fills quickly. Trips are typically five nights long, and the cost covers the flights, hotels, meals, transportation in the destination cities, and entrance to all activities. Students are to have their own spending money, and trip cancellation insurance is extra.
