Spending Money

The NSISP recommends students open a local bank account. A Canadian debit card allows you to have quick access to your money. You will be responsible for paying for your social activities (movies, restaurants, sporting events, etc.).

Students are responsible for their finances.

Nova Scotia has a 15% tax on goods and services, which is added at the checkout when you pay for your items. Tipping 15% is standard in Nova Scotia for general services, such as eating out at a restaurant or getting your hair cut.
