Over its 3,238 square kilometers, the board hosts international students in communities such as New Waterford, Glace Bay, and Sydney.

With spectacular beaches, the Highlands, and the Cabot Trail, recently voted one of the top ten road trips in the world by Lonely Planet travel guides, Cape Breton is one of the most picturesque regions in Nova Scotia.

Cape Breton is rich in traditional song, music, and dance, and many of its entertainers have reached international acclaim. In the summer and fall, the community festivals and celebrations feature traditional Cape Breton entertainment, creating an exciting, truly Nova Scotia experience. Most renowned is the Celtic Colours Festival, held annually in the fall.

As with all areas of Nova Scotia, people in Cape Breton are known for their friendly nature and natural ability to make you feel at home. Don’t be surprised if a stranger starts a conversation with you—the warmth of Nova Scotians shines through.
