The Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education (AVRCE) stretches two hundred kilometers from the far eastern edge of the municipality of West Hants through Kings County to the Western edge of Annapolis County. A unique feature of our region is the diversity of cultures represented within our geographic region. The area is rich in history, charm, and natural beauty.

The AVRCE governs 43 schools under the vision of ’working together for students.’ It strongly believes that all educational partners should be respected and that students should be the focus. Through innovative programming developed within the AVRCE, responsive student services, and efficient business practices, the AVRCE strives for continuous improvement in its ability to support student success and achievement.

Every year, the Annapolis Valley holds the annual Apple Blossom Festival. The Festival celebrates agriculture and heritage and includes barbeques, dances, homestyle-cooked meals, and the spectacular Apple Blossom parade and concert. It’s all about bringing family and friends together to celebrate, and it proves to be fun for all.

As with all areas of Nova Scotia, people in the Annapolis Valley are known for their friendly nature and natural ability to make you feel at home. Don’t be surprised if a stranger starts a conversation with you—the warmth of Nova Scotians shines through.

There are many things to see and do throughout the year on the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.

  • Attend the many community festivals, including the annual Pumpkin Regatta.
  • Enjoy canoeing or kayaking on one of the many rivers or lakes.
  • In the winter, you can have fun by spending a day on the slopes downhill skiing at the Ski Martock or by skating or watching a hockey game in Windsor, the birthplace of ice hockey.
  • Visit New Minas, the soccer capital of Nova Scotia, where you can play soccer year-round.
  • Spend a day hiking at Cape Split, one of Nova Scotia’s most famous hiking trails.
