The NSISP requires arrival information to be sent to the administration office at least two weeks (14 days) before the student's arrival. The information should include the student’s full name, arrival date, time, and flight number. It would also be helpful to have that information if students have connecting flights in the United States or Canada.
All flight details are to be sent to: flightinfo@nsisp.ca
If you are working with KW Edu, KW Edu will take care of notification to the NSISP administration office.
All students must have round-trip tickets. The NSISP should be given the date of departure and arrival information simultaneously.
All dates for the school year in Nova Scotia are set by the provincial Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Due to the late release of these dates during each school year for the next, the NSISP sets dates for the start and end of the school year, including the dates of each semester, before the release by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
The first semester typically begins on the first Wednesday of September. It ends at the end of January/early February, with the second semester starting on the first Monday of February. The program's end date is June 30 in any given year, and students cannot stay past this date.
Please Note: These dates are a good prediction of the school year's dates, but they may differ from those set by specific education centers, as each center releases its start and end dates during the spring of the preceding school year. The NSISP cannot be held liable for any changes in air tickets or itineraries due to changes in school semester dates following the purchase of tickets.
Arrivals are a very exciting time in Nova Scotia! When booking your ticket, please ensure it is within the timeframe the NSISP sets.
Your representative will have this information.
Once you arrive in Nova Scotia, you will be met by your host family or an NSISP program representative. However, for some students, especially those arriving on very late flights, you may have to spend the night at the airport hotel, at no charge, before departing to your host family. While we know this can be disappointing, many NSISP team members are always around to help you. Our staff will connect you with your host family the next day.
After gathering your luggage, it is time to leave the airport and head toward your new home.
